KWN54 WEATHER RADIO — HURRICANE POLO IMPACT STATEMENT
Hurricane Polo is expected to impact portions of the KWN54 listening area from late Sunday through Wednesday, September 27–30.
Residents across southwestern Colorado and the Four Corners region should be prepared for the potential for periods of heavy rainfall and locally hazardous weather as moisture associated with Hurricane Polo moves into the region. The National Weather Service will issue and update watches, warnings, and advisories as conditions warrant.
A Moderate Risk (Level 3 of 4) has been placed for portions of La Plata County, Colorado, including Durango, Ignacio, and Bayfield, indicating the potential for significant weather impacts.
The threat area also extends into Archuleta County, Colorado, including Pagosa Springs, as well as portions of San Juan County, New Mexico, including Farmington, Aztec, and Bloomfield.
KWN54 will continue to provide important weather information, including National Weather Service watches, warnings, and advisories, throughout this weather event.
Residents should not rely solely on KWN54 for emergency weather information. In the event that KWN54 experiences an outage or goes offline, residents are encouraged to have multiple ways to receive weather information and emergency alerts.
WXJ37 may also be available as an additional online weather-radio source. However, availability of the WXJ37 online stream is dependent on the individual stream provider and may not always be available. Residents should not assume that an online stream will remain operational during an emergency.
Additional sources may include NOAA Weather Radio from another nearby transmitter (WXJ37), Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA), local television and radio stations, official National Weather Service updates, and other trusted weather applications and services.
Keep multiple methods available to receive weather warnings. If one source becomes unavailable, immediately switch to another available source for the latest information.
Stay weather-aware and be prepared to take action should watches, warnings, or other hazardous-weather alerts be issued for your area.
Attention listeners! I've made some exciting upgrades to improve your listening experience. A new permanent antenna has been installed, and I've also added a new weather radio receiver to ensure a clear and reliable online stream for all my listeners.
