The repeaters have been in operation for over 4 decades and are free to use by the amateur radio comunity.
Amateur radio played a critical role in the area during Hurricane Katrina, helping to stay connected and facilitate aid.
Our amateur radio system offers worldwide communication via EchoLink and DMR. Streaming is facilitated by an SDR receiver and a Raspberry Pi Bookworm (Trunking). The DB440 antenna and tower are located at the foot of Lake Pontchartrain, covering the Parishes/counties of Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard, and Plaquemines. Our EchoLink Node number is 7052. For details on system access codes, contact KB5AVY (Dr. Roberto Dabdoub) on QRZ.com.
Our location (QTH) provides free Internet service to SDR Radio Project: City of New Orleans Fire Dept Dispatch & and Fireground radio traffic on Broadcastify.
