About the Interop Channels

This feed captures communications across several interoperability channels that connect county government, public safety agencies, and regional partners. These channels enable rapid information sharing and coordinated responses during 911 events, public service activities, and countywide operations.

Monitored Radio Resources

• HAN-GVT ("Government")
  Programmed into all non-public safety subscriber radios, this channel is used for direct communications with the Public Safety Emergency Communications Center. Many non-public safety devices automatically switch to this talkgroup when the emergency button is pressed.

• HAN-ECC1 ("ECC 1")
  The primary channel for the Hanover County Public Safety Emergency Communications Department. It is used during 911 public service events and other related activities allowing staff in the field to contact the ECC and manage related tasks.

• HANCW1 – HANCW5 ("Countywide 1-5")
  These countywide talkgroups are programmed into all county radio subscribers, supporting interoperability between diverse agencies—such as the Sheriff's Office and School Transportation—during countywide events.

• HAN-PSTAC1 – HAN-PSTAC5 ("Public Safety Tac 1-5")
  Found on all public safety radios, these channels facilitate communication between agencies like Hanover Fire-EMS and the Hanover Sheriff’s Office.

• RCR-T1 – RCR-T5 ("RCR Tac 1-5")
  Standing for "Richmond Capital Region," these channels are used when incidents involve multiple agencies from the region. They ensure interoperable communications during events within the Hanover County trunked radio system and may eventually replace legacy regionwide talkgroups as systems transition to the new RCR P25 system.
