This stream carries the W4RAT 146.88 repeater, located near Chesterfield Town Center in Chesterfield County, Virginia. Audio is sourced from a Yaesu DR-2X repeater located in the RATS repeater rack, via Raspberry Pi with redundant Internet connections (cable + LTE), UPS battery backup and automatic diesel generator power. This repeater is connected to the Yaesu WIRES-X network. It carries local FM and C4FM amateur radio traffic within approximately a 30 mile radius of southwest Richmond, and distant C4FM traffic from other connected WIRES-X systems. By default, it idles on the statewide WIRES-X Virginia Room. This feed is operated by the Richmond Amateur Telecommunications Society (RATS), which owns the W4RAT repeater system.
There is a weekly net on the Virginia Room (21625) Saturday evenings at 8 PM local time.
Our antenna is a Commscope DB-224E positioned at 680 feet on a tower at the Virginia Public Media (VPM) studios on Sesame Street in southwest Richmond. An estimated coverage map is provided below.
